Sore, puffy eyes in 9mo - allergy?

My 9 month old's eyes were puffy and red after he had his tea last night. The CM said he kept rubbing his eyes while he was eating. So I'm not sure if it was because his eyes were irritated before, or whether it was because he was rubbing some food into his eyes. It was carrot & lentil soup, could it be an alergic reaction?

You can be allergic to anything, even carrot and lentil soup but I think you need to see if it settles before getting to concerned.

Things to watch out for are:

Discharge (watery means allergic/viral, gunky means bacterial).
Redness of the white part of the eye (the conjunctiva).

In the mean time, cool compresses to the eyelids will make him more comfortable and are risk free.

And feel free to use appropriate painkillers if he appears in discomfort.

Does that make sense?
