Sorry for the use of willy I always feel like a child using that word !

Just wondering if DS (3) needs to or needs us to pull his foreskin pulled back when washing his willy? DP reckons yes (this is how he cleans himself as I'm sure most men do) although I don't think so as it will either take care or itself or wont need to be until he is a bit older. However sometimes I get a whiff of something and then wonder if I should be?

TIA

ds is 4 and we dont fiddle about with his foreskin - I am not even sure his retracts fully yet. Advice is to leave it alone until your lo can do it for himself.

Thanks for replying seona. That's a good point about whether it does actually detract I've no idea.

Thanks for the advice

Leave it alone. You can make things much worse by pulling it back.

I agree wmmc. Thank you

It probably doesn't retract fully yet.

Had issues with DS's getting sore/red when he was about 6.

Paediatrician showed us that it was still 'sealed' in part to the top bit and told us not to worry. Nature and the usual fiddling in the bath tends to loosen it apparently.

Reckoned as long as it didn't get stuck when it finally did retract, it was fine. And so it was Smile

That's really useful thanks married. If DP suggests cleaning it again I will explain what you said and he can have a look

I'm sure it will loosen in time there is lots of fiddling going on!

It's the soap that bothers me too, I'm not keen on him putting soap inside there just as I don't use soap on myself inside that area but that's how DP washes it so I guess that's how most do ??

I'm the same but I think it's ok as long as they rinse it off. There's less chance of having such problems with boys.

When I see DH lathering his up I just cringe though!

It's pretty much self lubricating like most human crevices it seems. Once in a while DS says he's sore or itchy. I just offer the Canestan to slap on it and that works Smile

Almost 4yo DS has obviously been playing with his too much as his foreskin does seem to retract properly. I get him to give it a rinse when he's in the bath.

fezsarecool · 03/11/2010 08:24

Child health recommends leaving it alone as it is still attached and may not fully retract for several years.

we just give the general area a quick wash over with the flannel. HTH

I know what you mean about cringing married! And lol at your DS meglet

Thanks for all your messages
