Hi, found out today that ny 5 year old niece has chicken pox, first spots yesterday.
My two dc, 17 and 15 havnt had it but have spent the best part of the last two weeks with my niece, should I be worried?

If they have been with her in the last day or so then yes. My friend's DD caught it off my DS and she was here the weekend before his first spots appeared.

Nothing you can do about it though, just wait and see. And if they haven't caught it, I'd ask about getting them vaccinated - chicken pox is more unpleasant the older you are IMO

Hi and thanks HeadlessLadyBiscuit They havn't been with her since last thursday so hopefully ok, Not sure why neither of them have had it as they were around it alot when they were younger,
I wasn't aare of a vaccination, is it a general thing?

I'm amazed at 17 and 15 they've never had cp - might they have a natural immunity to it? Or have had a very slight dose that you thought was perhaps just a rash?

I am surpised myself, I had it when I was 11, Its one of those childhood illnesses that you dread but mine never had it,

I had it when I was 16 ,along with all but 1 of my school class. It was very unusual to see in a secondary school. We were poorly with it but nothing too drastic, so try not to worry too much.
