dd has had a really bad lurgy with chest infection and temperature for the past 6 days
She started getting better yesterday but her calves both started aching and she is finding it hard to walk properly
Any ideas?
I think it could just be a viral thing but not sure

Not wanting to worry you but I would take her to the GP/A & E.

One morning DD woke up with an aching thigh and she couldn't put her foot to the floor.

I took her to the GP, who luckily spotted it could be Perthes Syndrome here and sent her to A & E to get it checked out. Luckily, after an ultra sound scan, they realised it was just an infected hip here but kept her in overnight for further tests and mointoring of her temperature.

They said it could show up as pain in other areas of the body (knees/legs) so wanted to rule out all possibilities.

Anyway - hoepfully your dd will just be achey after her infection but would defo get it checked out tomorrow/today; her symptoms are really similar to DD's.

If your DD has been unwell nearly a week and resting up a lot of the time its possible the muscles in her calves have grown weaker and are protesting now she up and about again. I read somewhere the muscles start to weaken after just a day, which is why everyone should exercise daily! Hate exercise personally and so depressed when I read that, all the hard work and not sustainable unless you keep it up!

But if she's finding it hard to put her feet to the floor, it is quite common for the synovial fluid around the hip joint and socket to beconme infected. please see GP at least to rule out the above.
