reflux in a toddler?

dd is 3 and suffered from reflux as a baby. She also had dairy intolerance.

From the age of 18 months she has been off all reflux meds and also back onto dairy.

recently at almost evry meal time she will cough and say she is going to be sick (though she never is). She says it hurts in her throat and points to the bottom of her neck area. She doesn't do it as a behaviour issue because she often continues to eat her lunch, just coughing and complaining.

Could this be reflux? And why would it be at "most" meals but not all?

I think you should take her to a GP. It could be anything from a food intolarence too a sore throat.

My DS is 2 and 3/4s. He had reflux and was allergic to dairy as a baby. He seemed to outgrow the reflux but after lots of investigations for chest infections, it turned out he still had reflux but rather than being sick, he was refluxing info his lungs Sad.

He started reflux meds around the time he was 2. He's still on them and I notice that on occasions, he shows symptoms like you describe for your DD. In particular, we messed up his losec recently because we went on holiday (travelling and time differences etc Blush) and we had an episode just like that, except he actually was sick.

Would definitely suggest going back to the GP about it. There doesn't seem to be mich discussion of reflux in older children but it definitely happens.
