Quick question on thrush

Hello

My DS is 19 days old and has had nappy rash for the last 5 days. The skin started to break a little today so I took him to the GP who said it was thrush and prescribed canestan to be used twice daily. I was wondering if anyone knows if I should be applying anything at other nappy changes - so far we've tried sudacrem, bepanthen and metanium on it. I was thinking of applying a bit of bepanthen at changes but don't want to do anything that will interfere with the thrush treatment. We saw the GP in a bit of a rush so didn't think to ask.

Thanks

We had thrush when my son was around 8 weeks old. The thrush looks like a very bright red angry patch, not like regular nappy rash.

To be honest I used Canesten on it with every nappy change, and we were taking oral meds for it too. Keep the area as dry as poss - thrush loves moist conditions.

Hope you manage to shift it soon, it can be pretty miserable.

Thanks for the message - I don't really know what regular nappy rash looks like so just assumed that's what it was until today. Thankfully it doesn't seem to be making him too miserable but really want to shift it as soon as possible.
