hello.

ds had a bug on thursday night (there's a lot of it at school), up all night vomiting, but no high temperature (if anything a little bit low). last vomited at 5.15am friday morning.

he missed school on friday and a party on saturday, yesterday he looked much better and he went to a party at soft play (in retrospect i think this might have been a mistake). anyway, he was fine yesterday, just been off his food a bit since thursday, understandable really.

anyway, fast forward to this morning and i thought he was playing me up cos he didnt want to go to school, but he wasnt, he's back to vomiting again (but no temperature, almost like he's got the bug all over again. anyway, he feels horrid, wants to be sick again but has nothing left to be sick with iyswim.
so, is there anything i can get him to try that might help him feel better, or shall we just stick to water?
thanks

7-up or Sprite. Put a little sugar in to make it go flat and let him sip it slowly. Some people recommend coke but I find that not as soothing.

oh, hello Buda, how are you? i will try that, thanks.

My dc had this recently and it really knocked them for six. It's a weird bug because no temp or diaroeah (can't spellit sorry), just the vomiting and lethargy. I found the only thing that would stay down and give them some energy was diarolyte sachets and then a bit of toast later on.

preghead - how long did it last for with your dc? its almost like ds had it then got it again.

Ice lollies to suck. He will be able to slowly absorb some water and sugar.

It sounds like it yes because what they had sounds really similar but they both only had it for less than 24 hours, only sick for the one day (every time they tried to eat or drink anything), they were fine with food the next day but a bit worn out and tired and emotional for a good few days after. Hope he feels better soon.

thats a good idea, 3 little frogs, i'll see what we've got.
the flat sprite is going down well inbetween his waves of nausea.
thanks preghead - i wish we hadn't gone out yesterday, still we live and learn.

Diarolyte worked wonders with my two. We've all had similar bug and it seems to last for ages. DD had similar gap between vomiting incidents.

Dissolve as much sugar as you can in a quarter of a cup of hot water; cool it, and let him have an occasional teaspoon. It sometimes helps with the nausea, and at least makes the sick taste better.

thanks all, he hasn't been sick for 3 hours now and has had some food too, so fingers crossed we're over the worst of it.
hairtweiddler - is your dd over it now?

Yes, although the baby (11m) took longer. She wasn't right for a week.
