Evening ladies,
my ds (8 months) has had diarrohea for the past 2 days and has generally not been himself. i took him to the GP this morning who said it may be a bug wait for nature to take its course. Only tonight, just after his evening bottle and calpol he has been sick everywhere. I'm scared to do too much in case it interferes with his routine, but should I try him with some milk or should I wait a few hours and see if he sleeps and wakes for a feed? He has kept his appetite up and this is the first time he has vomited. Any ideas?

If he can't keep down milk try cooled, boiled water.
He needs fluids. I wouldn't advise giving his more calpol. You need to treat that as if he's had the entire dose you gave him (in terms of when and how much his next dose is).
Hope he gets over it soon.

ok i'll try water, what if he wakes in a few hours because he's hungry, do i try milk then?

Yes, try milk first but if he won't tolerate it then try cooled, boiled water.

i would just give him water and ask doctoe for dioralyte relief sachets which have rice in them to help with the sickness

I wouldn't worry about his routine when he's sick. Definitely let him have milk if he wakes for a feed, and when he is awake tomorrow, don't wait to offer him milk (or water). He can go back to a routine when he's better. Keeping fluids up is more important than a routine.

Well ladies, your advice paid off!! He slept on an empty stomach-but he slept 12 hours and woke up a brand new baby, appetite, thirst and all! Thanks for relieving me when I was short of a heart attack !
