Keep on getting letters from optician for DS - 2.5 years

Both DH and I wear glasses as are both short-sighted. DS's eyesight appears perfect, so why do they want/need to test him? Is it because myopia is familial or is it a ploy to get us to use this optician (I know tests are free for children). It's with Boots btw, where I go (even though they're crap) Hmm

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I think it can be hereditary. Me and DH both wear glasses and so does DD.
It wouldn't hurt to go, at least if there is a problem you can sort it out before he startes school.

Our optician suggested we put dd2 (23months) down for a check up in a couple of months, to get her used to it all, rather than to actually find any problems, I think it is just good practice to get children seen rather than wait for school entry checks. I wouldn't worry about it.

okey dokey, I'll take him :)
