Mild Chickenpox?

Is it possible to get chicken pox without
a big rash/lots of spots? We had a message from school to say that there was an outbreak of CP and to look out for spots on the children.

DS (4.8) has got three reddish spots, (2 more than yesterday) no fever, and seems just fine. I really can't tell if it's CP or not, yet. Confused

Commonsense would suggest that it is, but if so, it's very mild. I've read that on average, you get around 200 spots?

I'm also pregnant (very early on ) but I had CP when I was 17 so I should be immune, right? [still worried]

you should be immune. Definately could be cp with your dd but if it is my ds got it again at 2and a half much worse after a very light dose at 10mths sorry.

yes you can get mild cases. You should be ok if you have had it before as you generally only get it once.

Yes it could be cp, my ds2 got it when his big brother did, he was only a few months old and then got shingles aged 1!!

It is very rare to have chicken pox more than once, so I wouldn't worry about it.

It is possible to have the infection and few spots: my brother was covered in them, my sister had just 2!

Have DS's spots become the tell-tale blister-like ones yet?

When did your ds get his first spots? It was a good 48 hours before I was sure it was cp, with all my 3 dcs. A few big spots, a few more the next day. Then a few with blisters, then zillions!

No, not really, they just look like insect bites.

Logically, I think it must be CP; it just doesn't look like I thought it would!

my doctor thought DD prob had chicken pox about a year ago but she hardly had any spots, so it must be possible. But I still don't know for sure if that's what it was - guess we'll find out if there's an outbreak at school
