Really weird poo in 2 year old

TMI alert!
My 2.2yr old DD has had 2 dark red quite mucusy (sp?) poos today. She seems ok in herself & I can't think of anything that would have caused the colour. This is not 'normal' for her. She doesn't have any obvious signs of bleeding & doesn't appear to be in any discomfort.

I am not googling coz I don't want to freak myself out!

I'm waiting for a call back from my GP but just wondered if anyone else had any experience of this?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Did you speak to your GP?

bebejones · 08/10/2010 19:39

Spoke to GP & took DD & one of the offending poos round to see him!

He thinks she has a small tear inside :( it's a bit odd coz she hasn't been constipated at all. She has a soft tummy & no temperature so just got to wait and see! Anything else odd & we will have to call out of hours GP. Why do these things always happen on a Friday?!

has she had any jelly recently?

Frrightattendant · 09/10/2010 14:02

It could be a tear or fissure, it could be colitis, there are a few thinbgs. In a young baby I would be suggesting intussusception which is pretty serious but I THINK this isn't likely if she is 2.

I will google for you.

here

Sorry, she's not too old to have it I don't think

There wouldn't be a fever,

keep a very close eye on her.
