Saw gp earlier for a rash dd has on back on neck, down back, aroudn ears and on scalp. She said may be nothing specifc Hmm or possibly scabies (yuk) ! Prescribed Lyclear which she described as a lotion to put on leave for 8-12 hours then rinse off. Opened the bag which we were dispensed and it is the Cream Rinse 10 minute version, directions make no mention of scabies just headlice. Chemist has checked prescription is as per the script, gp now shut so can't check till tomorrow. Has anyone used the Cream Rinse for scabies and are the times etc same ?

i think you've been given the wrong stuff, lyclear do this for scabies

alypaly · 05/10/2010 18:24

lyclear cream ( permethrin ) is used to treat scabies on the skin and lyclear shampoo is for nits and head lice.

HTH

Scabies normally starts on the forearms and chest area as it is normally caught from someone or something else like a dog

The Cream Rinse is 1% Permethrin . Confused She wasn't even sure it was scabies but thoguht it worth trying just in case . Do headlice bite beyond the scalp area ? Not sure I've found any though.

Scabies don't normally affect the head and neck. If it's primarily the scalp and behind the ears I would say head lice is definitely more likely and a sensitivity to their saliva the reason for the rash

Thanks. So there is nothing to be lost using this stuff tonight then ?

if you have a live one ....you will have eggs and poo. Sometimes the poo makes the skin sore

alypaly · 05/10/2010 19:57

is it a nit or a louse

neytiri · 05/10/2010 20:40

sounds like it's more likely to be lice than scabies. might as well give the lyclear you've been given a go.
