Bilateral Amblyopia (Eyesight)

My 4 year old DD has worn glasses since she was 2yrs 2mths. After few tests, we were told she had a squint in one eye, astigmatisms in both and was v long sighted (Prescript. + 8.5 & 9.5). The turn is corrected with the glasses but the eye completely turns in without them. We have just been back to the hospital for one of her regular checks and have been told that DD has Bilateral Amblyopia which is basically that both eyes are 'lazy'. They say she has very limited distance vision even with her glasses. She now has to have a Neurological Electrical Diagnostic Test where they will attach electrodes to her head to measure the waves from her brain to her eyes. Does anyone have any experience of this?

Hi the test in itself is fairly straight forward - your dd will have little stick on electrodes put on different parts of her head and will have to look at various patterns on a screen.

the test is to make sure the signals from the eye to the brain are being passed on and received correctly.

hope this helps

My son has squints in both eyes too, but have never heard of that test. He is only 2.6 though, and due to have corrective surgery next year.
