Oh my God trace2 how traumatic for you all. Surely the hospital gave you some indication what they were looking for? Failing that see your GP as when DD had her bowel op our GP was so helpful and kept us in the picture. He did give us worse case scenario which was awful to hear but at least we were prepared. I would really stop yourself google-ing her symptons as that only fuels your fears.
I wish you all the best and please come back and let us know the results.
A BIG mn hug x

trace2 · 22/09/2010 19:26

thanks for replying lazycow( love the name lol) no he didn't we asked if that's what made her bleed in june from her bum and what does he think he just kept saying i can only say wait for biopsy to come back:( he didn't even say don't worry, then the nurse said i know it sounds bad but at least you will know what your dealing with, so i asked if she knew ? she said sme as him have to wait.

notapizzaeater · 22/09/2010 19:37

Stop googling and fretting. Its such a long time - Our doctor took 5 weeks to tell us the results and then he left a message on the answermachine [grr]

Did they do blood tests as well for allergies ?

(Hug)

trace2 · 22/09/2010 19:48

no its been one long road she is tube fed neocate only eats very small amounts as she still chokes so they say doing tests wont show, but her esr blood tests showed very raised amount of 48 instead of 8

What a nightmare time for you - no useful advice but lots of sympathy. Let's hope it's not too long a wait.

saintlydamemrsturnip · 22/09/2010 19:55

Trace2 there is a crohns support group - they might be able to help. I think I know someone who runs a parent support system - I could ask her whether there's anyone you could talk to if you want.

trace2 · 22/09/2010 19:57

saintlydamemrsturnip yes please and thank you!

She had an intussusception which was only discovered in time. Clue was jelly like blood in her nappy - she was 6mths and it was New years day so no doctors open. The third hospital discovered it and operated in time. It's not the same thing as your DD from what you have said but my thoughts are with you at this stressful time. Actually it wasn't the bowel op the GP was good about, though they were great about aftercare councelling (she has had so many different things hapen in her short life) it was when she had a rare kidney infection (few months after op) and he rang me at home after a routine urine test and was amazing with what it could be and prepared me for kidney transplants and the like. It wasn't as bad as the worse case scenario in the end and she is now okay in both areas thankfully.
I really do wish you all the best and try and keep as calm as you can manage - know it is hard believe me i know.
BTW i am as my name suggests - still in my dressing gown from my lunchtime bath.

trace2 · 22/09/2010 20:22

your poor dd so glad shes ok now though, hen dd was bleeding in june second time around dd was rushed in to check for this had a scan one a day for 3 days to make sure her bleeding was just like you said like jelly like but carried on for a full week up to 12 nappies a day, the local hospital was very good looking for this and befor the second scan on day two our pead said oh i feel a mass ran away sent us for an other scan, but thankfully it was not a intussusception as he told us was life threatening if left un treated Sad . but now we left with an other worry

trace2 - have written a note. It's a teacher at ds1's school - I know her quite well and fingers crossed she'll get back to me xx

lazycow007 · 23/09/2010 08:13

sorry for late reply to your last message trace2 but mumsnet seemed to crash last night as I couldn't send a message i had typed.
No-one i know had ever heard of an intussusception (me neither) until DD had one. At least you know it's not that now as like Dr said it is life threatening if left untreated.
I wish i had known about mumsnet when i was going through all the stress of DD illnesses just to keep me sane - I only discovered it this year!
My heart goes out to you at this stressful time and i remember the waiting too and it brings it all back to me clearly. Take one day at a time and see if your GP can shed any light. Please let us know how you get on and I wish you all the very best in a speedy confirmation from the biopsy.
Another mn hug coming your way xx

twilight81 · 23/09/2010 15:57

hi trace2..

sorry about ur dd it is awful when u have to wait for results.
not sure i can offer any advice but just wanted to say when i had my colonoscopy they told me immediatley afterwards i had ulcerative colitis, without waiting on the biopsy results.
so maybe they really are not sure?? with the u.colitis i get lots of bright red thick blood and lots of yellow mucus, which actually looks like pus (sorry gross i know)
hope this helps a little, if u want to know anything else feel free to ask
xx

lazycow007 · 30/09/2010 14:49

Any news trace2? I know the 3 wks aren't up but I was hoping the hospital may have rushed your results through.

Thinking of you Smile

trace2 · 02/10/2010 15:50

no news was told a doctor was going to ring me, but they have not yet still waiting we go on 12th oct it can not come soon enough

OP posts:
lazycow007 · 02/10/2010 16:40

That's Doctors for you - they just don't get the agony of waiting.

10 days and counting..................

Come back and tell us how you got on.

lazycow007 · 12/10/2010 20:31

Hey Trace2 just realised it is the 12th today - any news? Been thinking of you and hope everything was explained fully to you. If you feel up to it give us a quick post to let us know how you got on. xx

trace2 · 13/10/2010 18:28

hi yes we went to app on 12th and they say her bowels was full of red sores, lesions and patcher's he thinks its colitis caused by dairy products even though she only eats very little dairy by mouth one suck of yoghurt a day a few quavers not even half a bag, so now no more dairy to see if this makes her better, if that fails to work i dont know he is hoping its that, he says shes very young to have this problem but her biopys was clear, he did say they might not be clear next time they do this! so really still at a loss:(

OP posts:
nightcat · 13/10/2010 19:16

hi Trace, your dd sounds very poorly :(
Is your dd gluten free as well? Coz that's most frequently linked to colitis and dairy problems often are a result of reaction to gluten intolerance/sensitivity. Corn can also cause problems.

trace2 · 13/10/2010 19:56

nightcat dd cope pretty well really very tired all the time though, we don't know about gluten , but i will look it in to thins we have a dietitian coming to ours on friday lets see what she as to say!

OP posts:
nightcat · 13/10/2010 21:01

"really tired all the time" sounds like gluten intolerance too, do research it coz there is a strong chance going gluten-free might help

lazycow007 · 13/10/2010 21:23

Thanks for getting back to us trace2. Sounds painful whatever it is, and her being so young too, it must be hard for her to voice how she is feeling. I take it they are going to do another biopsy then to assertain the condition? You don't seem to have come out of there that much clearer than when you went in and that is shameful of the doctor not to explain more fully.

I hope your lo starts to feel a bit better with the dairy cut outs now and you start to see some light at the end of the tunnel.

Big hug for you xx

trace2 · 14/10/2010 08:32

night cat i will watch out we did tell him when she eats a little brown bread she poos mucas! lazycow no we didn't find much out and he didn't listen he never as, when dd was 12 months old she had a movement disorder but at the time he thought was reflux (sandifers) gave her an op for it called funpucalion and a feeding tube to have an other episode two weeks after her opp:( to then find out it is a movement disorder and seizures!Shock

OP posts:
nightcat · 14/10/2010 09:02

Trace, I am Shock that drs haven't mentioned gluten, coz it causes loads of gut problems, whilst reaction to dairy is usually a result of gluten damage.
I am glad you are going to see a dietitian, hopefully she has seen this before and will have some practical advice.
Another thing you should read up on is leaky gut, which is probably another secondary problem related to gut damage in your dd with the results as you described.
