am worried about dd2 who is 1. she had a bowel intercersection 8 months ago and her poos are not solid yet. she has started getting pains when pooing. the other day she had a solid one bit it took her an hour to pass it adn she was crying out in pain. they have gone back to her usual runny state but she still seams to be in pain. i have been told that colitis and intercersections are not related but my dad suffers colitis and i have been told that it can run in familys. are there any other symptoms

pud - did dd have surgery to sort her intussusception? I think it's worth getting a follow up appointment if she's been discharged as her bowels haven't yet normalised especially as you have family history.

I had intussusception as a baby and had major surgery to sort it out. I have issues with constipation rather than the other as it seems I have a bit of bowel that doesn't function properly.

I would keep a bit of a diary pud. Number of times, consistency, colour (sorry TMI but needs must), what she's eating etc.

Poor thing. Did the GP suggest anything to help in the meantime?

gp did not suggest a thing. tbh i am frightened to do anything. done want to give her lactalose when she is struggling with a hard one just incase it turns it the other way

No - I agree not a good idea to try to loosen up or thicken up at the moment. Perhaps he'd send off a stool sample to see if there's any sort of bug hanging around?
