DD (2.8) has been pulling on her ears every now and then over the past few months. No other symptoms....apart from biting hard on things - more than usual (but that could be a sensory thing as dd has other issues and also no speech yet).

Adenoids removed a year ago...definitely helped with breathing and sleeping etc

Visited Gp last week and they gave me drops for redness in outer ear canal.

Wen back on friday and the eardrums still look 'dull'

I have requested referral to ENT just to be safe.

Many Thanks.

IME it's most commonly due to glue-ear. Often resolves spontaneously or with grommet insertion if affecting hearing and language acquisition. ENT will test her hearing and look at her ears again. (I am a GP)

Brilliant - thank you.

I am feeling bad that I did not act earlier....especially as dd's speech is so delayed.

Although her speech delay is part of a bigger problem. Not hearing clearly will be adding to the issues she already has.

I also catch her putting her hands over her mouth or ears and shouting loudly as though it helps her hear the sound she is making - especially out and about or when its noisy.

Many thanks Chewytoffeemum
