Teeth- where are they hiding??

Does anyone know (from personal or other experience) any babies who didn't have teeth at all at 9 months? DD2 has been acting as though teething for ages and ages, biting, drooling, but there is no sign of anything at all. We've got a referral to a consultant for general slow growth apart from her head circ which is huge (95th centile), but the HV and GP said it would probably not come through any time soon as she seems generally healthy and happy and has never lost any weight, just dropped down a few centiles. But she has no teeth, and I am worried in case it's tied in with some kind of nutrient deficiency or something, though I can't actually think of what. She eats some solids when she wants- finger foods/fruit and things like pasta, petit filous, potato mash, chicken soup, not loads but some at least, and still BFs several times (mainly at night tbh) daily. According to my mother I didn't get teeth until "8 or 9 months" but that's passed now and I don't know any other babies of the same age who are completely toothless!

My 2 Dcs (now 5 & 2) did not get their first teeth till they were nearly 1 Shock

DS's nickname for ages was gummy Grin

Lol, that's brilliant, thanks. I was always more 'baldy' than 'gummy', as was DD1... I'm going to hypothesise there's some kind of teeth/hair trade-off going on in the family.

DD was a week over 1 when she got her first tooth, another followed a week later, and now at 13 months she has her two bottom teeth and a molar is coming through Shock

dd1 didn't get her first tooth until she was almost 1. Don;t worry.

A friends dd didn't have any teeth until just before her 1st birthday. She then got 4 teeth all at once.

Don't worry. They'll definitely appear at some point and then you'll have the fun of brushing them Grin

I know loads of babies who didn't have teeth until around a year.

Owlingate · 13/09/2010 19:32

DS1 was 13 months when he got his first tooth. DS2 is 9 mths and counting. Its good in some ways because you don't have the faff of brushing a tiny baby's teeth. But at the opposite end they're still getting their molars at bloody 3.

Dd is 11 months and just cutting her first tooth

DS was alsonlate to teethe and had just 2 teeth at a year

Apparently well within the range of normal

Galena · 14/09/2010 16:55

DD had her first at 13 months, her second at 14 months, and her 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th at 16 months. Think she's got molars coming through at the moment at 17 months.

domesticsluttery · 14/09/2010 16:57

DS1 was 9.5 months when he got his first tooth, and DD was 10 months.

DS1 is now 8 and was the latest to start losing his milk teeth too, the first one didn't fall out until he was 7.5!

pearlsandtwinset · 14/09/2010 16:59

I know that I didn't have any teeth on my first birthday, not sure when they finally came through. Have all my teeth now so don't worry.

ihearthuckabees · 15/09/2010 11:57

Friend's DS had no teeth til he was 1. My DS got his first at 5 months, but then didn't lose a baby tooth til he was a month short of 8!

mrsgordonfreeman · 16/09/2010 14:07

DD is 10 months and still toothless.

I lost my last baby tooth at 16...
