DS2's tooth has turned grey overnight

DS2 (3.5) vomited 3x overnight - seemingly fine this morning but a bit tired. However, I have noticed that one of his front teeth has turned a grey colour overnight. Has this happened to anyone else?? Still haven't made it to the dentist yet (long story) although we need to. Not sure if we now need to as a matter of urgency. He's not complaining about the mouth so I'm not sure if its a virus or something else which has caused it to change colour.

A bruise? If he's banged his mouth near the tooth there could be blood getting into the tooth causing it to look grey / black?

Has he banged his tooth recently (say within the past few weeks or months?) My DDs tooth went grey after she banged it. It stayed grey for a while and then went just a slightly darker than normal colour.

Google grey teeth and there's a lot of info on this.

Did he have a fall or bump to his mouth yesterday? My DS knocked his front teeth very badly and the impact caused one of them to 'die' ie there is now no blood supply to the nerve (I think). He had to have root canal treatment to seal it off and it has begun to discolour.

If your DS had a fall and knocked his mouth, that could also account for the vomiting perhaps?

I would definitely see a dentist ASAP if the tooth is still grey. Hope he's OK.

He bumped his forehead yesterday on the door (and has a lump) but I'm not sure that is close enough to the mouth to cause his tooth to go grey? I hadn't thought the vomiting could be due to the bump on the head - what an idiot.

Is it worth seeing the out of hours doctor? If the vomiting was due to the bump he had, and he's still not right today, I think it might be a good idea. The GP might also have some idea about the tooth.

Sorry for lack of response - came down with what was obviously DS2's vomiting bug on Sat afternoon and have been laid low ever since. No wonder he's been quiet since, I feel dreadful! Still need to go to the dentist though...
