He's 6 - and just confessed he put it up there during break at school. No sign of it. He says he can feel it there. It must be deep inside. Groan...we've tried strong blowing of nose but nothing. Any experience most useful. Thank you!

You need to take him to A&E, sorry.

Thanks. No car here tonight. Do you think it could wait till morn? Or should I organise a car asap?

Ring them and ask.

I reckon it could probably wait, but no harm in asking.

I wouldn't leave it to be honest. It can work itself in a bit more so they may have to remove it in a more drastic way. Can you get a taxi? A lift?

beegee · 08/09/2010 20:45

Thanks - I'll phone NHS direct - prepare for longgggg night

Have you had a look to see if it's accessible with some tweezers?

beegee · 08/09/2010 20:48

Yes - I can see nothing - just darkness - even with torch shining up there

NHS direct will just tell you to take him to A&E. I hope they manage to get it out. Is he sure he's not sneezed it out? It could just be irritated? He really should be checked though just incase.

beegee · 08/09/2010 21:04

Thanks - just borrowed a friends car - off to A&E! xxx

This very thing happened to DD when she was about 4. Took her to A&E. Did the 'cover her mouth with my mouth and short sharp blow' thing under supervision to try and blow it out. Got a face full of snot but apple remained firmly lodged.

After a good number of attempts to get at it (they could feel it) with no success and after reassuring doctor that I was absolutely sure it was apple was allowed home. Was told over a period of time it would start to deteriorate and come out naturally. Sure enough it did just that - two days later and out of the other nostril, a bit like a slug crawling down her face .

Hope this helps.

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 08/09/2010 21:05

I hope they manage to find it.

fabsoopergroovy · 08/09/2010 21:06

Good luck

beegee · 08/09/2010 22:34

Thanks guys. Ok - back. They couldn't get it out so have to go back in morning so doctors can decide what to do. Sigh! Just when I thought he was safely back at school! Fabsoop...that's some story!
