Hi,

My little girl has developed a skin infection that starte with a blister under her armpitt and has now spread down her trunk and under the arm. The GP said it may have been an insect bite and prescribed some penicilin.
I'm really freaking out I have to wait 48 hours to find out if the antibiotics work, she's in pain, no fever but her skin looks so sore. I've had to take her to nursery and can't focus on work.
Anyone seen anything like this? She's 2y 5months

If she gets significantly physical worse, fever, not drinking, lethargic, vomiting and the redness spreading rapidly as the day goes on contact GP again. Cellulitis can be very serious and may need intravenous antibiotics

It could be impetigo. My DD has just got this and it started exactly as you describe - small blister under her arm that looked like an insect bite but spread. She has just started on antibiotics and has to stay away from nursery for 24 hours. I had never heard of it but it's quite common apparently.

it could be a staph aureus infection which should need flucloxacillin. if it gets worse go back to the doctor. is it crusty or infected loooking?
