Rash on DD's chest - help please, could you look at a picture?

Picture on my profile. She's been sick overnight and a couple of times this morning. It doesn't look like menigitis to me, she doesn't have any other symptoms, and don't think it's chicken pox. Any ideas?

She doesn't have a temperature, and is generally quite well and happy.

The pictures haven't come out too well, she's got red splotches on her skin with raised white bumps. The first couple I noticed on her arms looked like insect bites.

Ouch! Poor her. It looks a bit like hives - is it quite itchy? Is it quite warm to the touch? I'm thinking it's allergic looking. Has she worn any new clothes/used different washing powder/ been playing outside anywhere new? The sickness might be a sign that she's eaten something she's allergic too.

If you have any piriton, it might be worth giving her a spoonful or two and seeing how she feels then. And some sort of cream on it x

I mean, like calamine lotion Smile

sorrento56 · 05/09/2010 17:44

I would give piriton but keep a close eye on her. You don't have to have a rash for it to be meningitis and you don't need all the symptoms for it to be meningitis. I have a book with photos of rashes in, would you like me to look in it?

Does the rash disappear if pressed with a glass?

Agree, it looks like an allergy. Could she have eaten something that's disagreed with her?

Thanks, it calmed down quite soon after I took the picture, so I think it must have been some kind of heat rash, she'd just got up from a long nap and may have got a bit warm under her duvet.

She's been in contact with her cousin who has had a sickness bug the last few days, so I'm fairly sure that's where the sickness has come from. Perhaps the bug just made her a bit more sensitive?

Anyway, thanks for the reply :)

sorry, had only seen Smash09's post when I posted

She's eaten very little today because of the bug, and nothing new. We have put a new duvet cover on the bed, so perhaps that's it?

Looks similar to what my DD2 got once. It was a hot day and she laid on grandma's leather sofa and suddenly came up with that rash with lumps and bumps.
Must have been an allergic reaction to the leather soap that grandma used on the sofa the day before.
It went away after half and hour or so.
