Baby with sore throat

My 8 month ds has had a sore throat for 4 days and today it is worse. He is now almost totally hoarse which is really horrid. He does not have a temperature and is generally ok but not as smiley as usual. His nose is also very runny. He has just started nursery 3 weeks ago for one day a week and i'm thinking he has picked up a bug from there. Have been alternating calpol and baby ibuprofen. Does anyone have any advice for other remedies to soothe him? Should i have taken him to the doctor?

Sounds like you are doing the right thing.

You will find that being at nursery is a great way to build up immunity, since other people's kids tend to be pestilent little creatures.

Just keep an eye out for signs of a secondary ear infection - temp, crying, red ear, pulling ear, but sometimes it can be very non-specific, just not getting better or getting worse.
