DS has just fell and hit his head.

DS1 is 2, has just fell backwards off of the bench outside and hit his head on concrete. He has an egg lump on his head, with red mottled type mark.

My question really is, how do I treat it? He has very poor communication skills, usually just cries and shouts, and I can't put a cold compress on his head as he is just kicking off. He is calm when I don't try though.

Is it ok to just leave it? He is not crying, being sick etc.. but I feel bad for not being able to do something!

Yes, prob will. He doesn't seem in pain though. Now is eating choc buttons on my knee!!

I would leave him alone. If he is not showing signs of concussion (vomitting, dizzyness, irrational behaviour etc) and does not seem to be in pain then I would not try to foist something on him.

Arnica is good, if you have any.

Never had this problem with the girls, they liked to sit on my knee and have a cold compress and buttons! Relished it they did! All that sympathy.

Chocolate is a natural pain reliever :) so as long as he is acting as "normal" as he was before the fall I would say he is ok. Just keep an eye on him for the next day or so just in case. Children bounce pretty well. Adults on the other hand, not quite so well. I saw a drunk guy fall off a bar stool on Saturday night and he hit his chin on the floor and split it wide open. He refused to accept it had happened and totally kicked off at the bar tender who tried to help him. Five minutes later 4 police officers rock in and arrest him for drunk and disorderly, and he was still bleeding everywhere. Gotta love NYC on a weekend.
