Dd age 3 fell today just putting her to bed noticed her little finger is very bruised and a little swollen. She can wiggle it and doesn't flinch if I move it. Should I just leave it till the morning and see how it us or take any action now.
DH out for first night in months no family nearby am pregnant hormonal and anxious and would appreciate advice.

Put ice on it (if she allows you to) and if you can, strap it up using plaster and the adjacent fingers as support?

I would see how she is in the morning ....

Even if it is broken ( unlikely as she is letting you move it ) all that would be done is to strap the finger to the one next to it with micropore or similar. Sleep well.

Be careful about strapping with someone this little. Ds broke his finger when he was a bit younger, and the hospital didn;t strap it up because they said little ones are more likely to do more damage by fussing with the strapping, and it's better to let them find ways of moving that don't hurt.

But if it's only a bit swollen and not painful then it's unlikely to be broken.

Thank you all for your replies she seems to have gone off to sleep so I think I will let her rest and re check in the morning.

DS broke his finger. The GP said it wasn't broken. Days and days later when he had x-rays, it turned out to be broken and it was TOO LATE to do anything about it, as there was already new bone growing in the wrong places.
Better safe than sorry: Have her x-rayed asap

Ice , ice and more ice. Do you have any arnica cream in the house?
