Ten year old, really poorly, with 40.2 temp, vom and listless. Trying to get her to drink water, but she's just sick. Don't know what to do. No rash or hurting neck. she's asleep now. I was thinking I'd phone the docs if still the same tomorrow morning. Is this the right thing to do? I can't imagine they would say anything different to what it says online, nhs websites etc. Just never seen temp that high before. What do you think?

Doctor now. Temperatures that high can be just normal viral infections that can go away on their own, or they can be really serious. Rash and hurting neck not essential symptoms of meningitis. It is not worth taking the chance - you can phone your GP right - so do that and see what they say, at least!
Good luck.

Doctors now. You don't have to have all the symptoms of meningitis for it to be that. What is your instinct telling you?

Ring your GP

Failing that, NHS24

Thanks all,
Just needed kick up the bum. Don't trust docs much, but you're right it's not worth risk. Got appt for later.

How is she bundle?

bundlebelly · 26/08/2010 08:57

Much better this morning thanks! No more sick, temp down, and resting on settee managing to play animal crossing! Really relieved. It was nasty though, hope it doesn't spread around the rest of the family! Thanks for your concern. This site is great.

Great news! Fingers crossed you're all through with it :)

My 7 week old daughter has developed a rash on her cheeks. They look like tiny pimples. Any idea what it is and what is the likely cause of it?

NamedAfterTheBandActually · 26/08/2010 17:21

ktchang77, sounds like baby acne. Is she otherwise well? See here. It's normal and nothing to worry about.

ktchang77 · 26/08/2010 17:21

Sorry, posted the above message by accident. Meant to start a new thread.

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 26/08/2010 17:22

It's baby acne kt, perfectly normal, just clean with water and pop to the GP if they start to look nasty (oozy/pussy)

Glad your daughter is feeling better OP Smile
