DD's got a red eye- but no gunk yet- what do I do?

Is it the start of conjuctivitis?
It's all irritated-looking and red, but there's nothing coming out.
Trip to the doctor or shall I wipe it with water or something else?

How old is she? I wouldn't bother going to the doctor unless she's very little - most eye infections will clear up by themselves without needing meds. You can bathe it with salty water (single wipe of cotton wool from inside to outside, then throw the cotton wool away, but I'm sure you know that ) which might help if it needs soothing. If it doesn't start getting better in a couple of days, then I'd toddle off to the GP.

I remember with DS I went to the doctor and was prescribed a course of ABs, hence my question.
