Any ideas why DS2 has a scabby face?

The has a cluster of yellowish scabs around his eye and down the side of his face.

The first one appeared about 10 days ago after a "he poked me in the eye" incident, so I assumed the two were linked, but since then, a new one has appeared almost every day and the early ones seem to be getting bigger. The largest is now the size of a 1p coin.

He's 7yo and otherwise well. Any ideas?

sounds like impetigo, he will need to see the gp for antibiotics, its a common skin infection for children to get (my ds1 has had it) but it is contagious so be careful with using flannels, bath towels etc and can be spread easily.

gp will prob prescribe antibiotics in the form of a cream and maybe oral ones as well.

hope that helps :)

Yup, I agree it sounds like impetigo. Use separate towels and pop to the GP.

Yup, impetigo. Off to the GP with you :)

When I had it the infection spead to my eyes and ended up with conjunctivitis at the same time. Not my most attractive week.

Oh dear, I did wonder about that, but thought it was usually around the mouth?

Popped in to see the nurse at the Health Centre today to see if she had any advice, she was off sick and stuipdly I didn't make a doctors appointment while I was there.
