Flucloxacillin Sugar free

is this the worst tasting medicine there is??!!

I have failed to give it to DD straight, and stirred into both yoghurt and nutella. I've tried a teeny taste and its utterly foul.

Anyone have any other suggestions where I could hide it? DD is meant to have it x4 a day for 5 days and I couldn't get a single dose into her today

Have you tried oral syringe from the pharmacist, squirt it into DD's cheek?

It is absoltely awful.

Very, very strong ribena or vimto was the only way I got it into ds. It was vital he had it as there was a big danger of him having to go into hospital for intravenous antibiotics.

I had to taste it eachtime to make sure the taste didn't seep through and it is foul.

I do have a syringe, but its very runny and she's an incredibly strong and stubborn 2 yr old. I would literally have to pin her down screaming.... which I may well do, but not till I have exhausted all other options!!

I have Ribena so might try that tomorrow - except she only likes milk or water to drink. I wonder if I can make a ribena/plain yogurt/medicine concoction?!!

it is hideous - get back to the doctor and ask for another prescription - same stuff but not sugar free

it really annoys me this emphasis on sugar free antibiotics - it's a good thing that they are available if you need them (if DC has diabetes for example) but I always think that if a bit of sugar in it helps the kid take the medicine then put it in!

The practice nurse phoned round all the pharmacists in the area for me (bless her) to see if anyone had a slightly different one in stock (the local ones didn't) there is a similar antibiotic that is still foul but not quite as foul.

After treckking backwards and forwards between Boots and doctors yesterday we were prescibed a different antibiotic.

I did feel a bit embarrassed that they thought I was some sort of feeble mother who couldn't persuade her DD to take medicine, but at the end of the day we have something she will swallow!!

Marmmummy....please can you tell me what it is that you have been prescribed. Im having terrible trouble with my DS and there is no way his dad will be able to get the medicine into him like we have.

Its called Erthromycin

Or even Erythromycin!

Its what they give if you are allergic to the other one. Hope your DS gets better soon

Big handful of chocolate buttons to coat mouth. Don't swallow. Medecine. More buttons.

Struggling with trying to get DS to take this too, we have mixed with a little bit of ribena, but this has not worked, can't get to the doctors again until Tuesday so really need to find a way to get this medicine in 4 times a day without a 30 min struggle. Arggh
