DD 6 months awful constipation! Help!

My DD is 6 months and I have just fully started to wean her. She has had her last of the breast milk (I had expressed with her so she had lots in the freezer which finished last Sunday) and is now on formula. Poor child has got terrible constipation and I cannot for the life of me remember what relieves it. Does apple juice help? She is really uncomfortable and it is not helping her sleep. My other daughter didn't have any constipation at this age, so it is slightly all new to me - any advice is very much appreciated!

Diluted fruit juice can help. Are you using powdered formula? If so, try switching to cartons of ready-made formula for a week. This sometimes helps. Also give plenty of fruit purees, but not banana (this can be constipating).
