Can children get carpal tunnel?

DD10 is currently waiting for an appointment with a consultant. She is displaying symptoms of carpal tunnel but I have never heard of a child having this.. The pain is in her dominant hand and she gets tingling/pain in her fingers, palm and wrist. This sometimes goes up her arm as well. If she writes/draws it becomes very painful. It is like a sharp pain when it starts and as it continues it throbs.
Does anyone have any experience of this please?
She did break this arm 16 months ago but having had a recent xray, nothing was found.
