hygienist appt for DS, 13 - any hygienists about?!

Hi, my DS is 13 and has pretty good teeth thus far (touch wood). I have been advised by his dentist to book him in for a dental hygienist appt. - it is £50 as not done on NHS. No problem with money (would rather spend it on DS's teeth than new clothes etc!!), but does anyone else's children have hygienist appts and if so, how often? Do they clean them AND advise on how to clean best? Many thanks!

Dd does have hygienist appts. She is also 13. She goes twice a year. She is good about teeth cleaning but has a train track brace so it is not straightforward.

Sorry. Yes they get a thorough clean and she gets advice too.
