DS has flaky feet - what is it?

the skin on DS's feet is flaking and peeling, just like when you peel after sunburn. it's particularly on the soles of his feet and around his toes (near the nail). What's causing it? Doesn't appear to be between the toes, nor itchy, so not suspecting athletes foot. Have been slathering on diprobase cream and putting socks on him, but not really helping.

Could still be a fungal infection of some sort.
what sort of footwear does he use?
Does he have a history of any eczema/dry skin in general which could now be affecting his feet?

thanks for the reply. He generally wears leather shoes, but recently trainers with mesh inserts. Yes, he does have an outbreak of eczema at the moment on his torso. Had hoped to be able to deal with it at home but might be worth a trip to the doctors.

Yes it would be worth getting it looked at if it has not responded to the diprobase. If it is fungal of some sort then keeping the area moist may prolong the problem. Maybe try keepng the area clean and dry for a while and use some footware that allows good air circulation (?sandals).
