How on earth will I get my DD (3.5) to have a filling

Took DD1 to dentist last week and was mortified to find out she has a cavity starting on one of her back molars. We were so strict with her till she was about 2, with sugar and now she is allowed treats but not every day and I don't think she has way more sugar than the average child, well not from what I can see from the other children we mix with, and we brush her teeth everyday and I do the back ones.

Anyway the dentist said we should go back and he will literally cover over the top of it so the decay doesn't get worse.

She was a nightmare though when we went to the checkup and took so much coaxing to get her to open her mouth and show him her teeth, she wouldn't let him touch the teeth or anything. He said try to get her used to me touching her teeth more and really giving them a good brush and come back in a couple of months time for him to do it. I just can't see her letting him do this though, any bright ideas?

whoneeds

Same with littlemad and my mortifiction was HUGE.
Our dentist said they would leave it until he's a little older provided it causes no problems.

And I dont get it with why it happened to littlemad either I was the same as you, really really strict about sweet stuff and teeth brushing as well. Dentist hasn't been very helpful in explaining why it happened just sort of goes, 'dont bother saying you don't give him sweets...' my family were aghast because they know how mean strict I am about sweet stuff (Littlemad didn't even get to finish his Christmas Chocolates let alone his Easter stuff!)

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know you're not alone and thank you for making me feel slightly better too!
