And I don't just want the usual usborne type books. Can anyone help? Something nice and hippy about loving yourself and your periods. I really want to do all I can to help her not inherit my hatred of my periods. I have good body image, thank goodness, and good self-esteem, but any books that will help with that too would be great.

Can anyone recommend any? I've seen Girlosophy, which I will definitely get her when she's a bit older, but could do with something for now, really, and it doesn't really talk about periods - more about making choices and being questioning.

I can recommend a book called 'Wise Guides: Periods' by Charlotte Owen, it's recommended by Brook Advisory centres. It's got lots of information about periods, presented in a very positive way. DD1 has just started her periods age 10, and she has read and re-read this book over the past year or so.

Thank you, I'll have a look at that one.
