Sinus infection in children

My 4 year old DS is just getting over a nasty sinus infection. He's been ill all week - his eyes swelling up and looking bruised, and a high temperature.

The doctor has treated it with antibiotics, including antibiotic injections. At one point the doctor was on the verge of referring him to a specialist as the swelling was so bad.

Anyhow, we are very relieved he appears to be better now. But concerned about the future, ie, now he's had one bad sinus infection is he likely to get one everytime he gets a cold.

Does anyone have experience of sinus infection in children? Is he likely to have more, now he's had one?
Or can they easily be a once off?

And if he gets another I need an idea of how to treat it without antibiotics. What should I do when I see the first signs of a sinus infection?

Many thanks. Smile

Super! That's what I wanted to hear. Well, not that your DD was in hospital - not nice at all - but that she hasn't had another sinus infection!

I'm always hearing of people suffering with their sinuses and convinced once you get a problem you always have a problem.

Thank you.
