Help

With DD1, now three, I gave her calpol after her 1st injections at 8 weeks. Now, with DD2, who is having her jabs tomorrow at nearly 10 weeks old, I've just noticed that on the paracetamol suspension I bought especially for the occasion, it says 'from 3 months.'

Have the guidelines changed, or is it still ok to use calpol (and disprol, supermarket paracetamol suspensions etc) from 8 weeks????

Might not need it, but DD1 had a really bad localised reaction, so am kind of expecting the same!

When DS had his jabs at about same age the nurse said to us that it was ok to give a smaller dose. ( I think it was a 2.5ml dose). She said it was fine to give it a bit early for the jabs. Just check when you go & they'll probably say the same thing, but can't her to reassure yourself.
Hope yr DD doesn't get any reactions. x

My calpol still says 2 months on it i'm sure. DD2 had her first jabs a couple of weeks ago and the nurse said it was fine to give it to her from 8 weeks. (2.5ml dose)

Oh good! It's just that the disprol I got yesterday, which is exactly the same as calpol, says 3 months! Ah, confused or what!!

provided it is 120 mg per 5 ml it is the same and can be given at 2 months provided they are at least 4 kg in weight.

They can have 2.5ml under medical supervision.

I remember when mine had their first jabs, we were given a 2.5ml sachet, just in case. I don't think we ever needed to use any of them though.

My ds had it from 3 weeks. He had an operation and it was the only pain relief they would let him have, poor little thing.

Thanks ladies - tyson - hope your LO is recovered. They're just soooo over cautious now. My doc said t2.5 mls was fine and was quite surprised that it said 'from 3 months'. She seems ok touch wood ...
