just looking for some reassurance - my nearly six month old is constantly pulling on her ears, sometimes scratching at them and making them red. I asked the health visitor about this ages ago and she said it was realted to teathing - I have heard this from friends as well. However, just wanted to check this could not be anything else - she is fine in her self, no temp.

is this teathing do you think?

Not sure. My cousin used to do this a lot and he had problems with his ears. Constant infections etc. He had to have grommits a couple of times. Although I think if a baby has an ear infection they would probably be screaming too.

If you are concerned I would make a doc appointment, just to be on the safe side.

Yes it is related to teething....also to tiredness, my dd does it when she is really tired. Interestingly enough when she did have an ear infection she didnt pull at them she tilted her head to the side all the time. You would also nearly always have a temp with an ear infec, in my experience anyway, my ds used to get loads!!
