1st injections on wed. tips?

my ds is booked in for 8 week check ans 1st set of imms on wed. anyone got any tipson how to make it not too traumatic for him and me? think ill be a blubering mess as i was 6 yrs ago with dd. any and all advice wlcome

They cry, only for a few minutes, then it's over. Far worse things happen to them all the time. Hold them really tight so they can't wriggle and it doesn't hurt too much. Get them dressed and out of there asap, the fresh air and stuff going on outside will soon distract them. It's your job to be positive about this, otherwise they will pick up on your distress and that will only make it worse!

They are not traumatised by it, it is just us! I would agree with lukewarm. Hold him tight so he can't wiggle and cause it to hurt more. Be ready to either bf of ff him straight afterwards and he will calm so quickly. Then you can worry about getting him dressed after he has had a little feed and it is all over for him. Be calm and positive, you know it is the right thing to do, and he will not remember it, short pain, long term gain. Your gp's should be able to provide somewhere quiet and private to bf, if you do, afterwards, all you need to do is ask, perhaps ring up the surgery today to organise it. Good Luck

thanks yeah im bf so ill ask for somewhere quiet to feed afterwards. fingers crossed it goes ok

It'll be fine! And calpol at the merest whiff of crankiness afterwards.... (and a glass of wine for you as well)
