Is it diarrhea?

Hi,

I have a 6 week old baby boy. For the last 2 days his poos have exploded out of his nappy. They are maybe slightly runnier than normal and more of it but to be honest if it had all stayed in the nappy I probably wouldn't have thought anything of it.

Whenever I read about diarrhea it says explodes out of nappy and more of it so my question is, is it really obvious when it is diarrhea? Is it excessively runny or watery? He doesn't have a temperature and seems ok otherwise. Any information gratefully received.

diarrhoea is normally very watery and will soak into the nappy. Is he bottle/breast fed?

He's bottle fed. Does the frequency normally change as well as he is still only doing 1 a day around the same time as usual.

Thanks

My 7 week old has it at the moment, about ten+ times a day. It's very very watery and will even leak a bit between actual poos. It's also instantly after a bottle. You hear it go squit too. If it's very frequent put him on an old towel to see it coming out, you'll know when it's diarrhea.

On a side note, I didn't realise that at 6 weeks my boy had outgrown size 1 nappies! Had days of leaking until I changed sizes. Duh. Could this be part of the problem?

Things are much better now, I think the volume had just increased as he was drinking more. I hadn't thought about the nappy size but have got the bigger ones and we haven't had any problems since - thank you for your help.
