I realise there are umpteen threads on the subject - which is why I have given up reading through many of them!

However, DS2 finally has chicken pox after 6 years of being exposed on and off via classmates, and siblings. He is VERY poorly with it and I don't recall the others being this ill when they had it.

I read one website that says to worry about headache and neck pain, which he has. Is that true? Is that part of the deal or is that unusual once spots are out? He's had spots for 2 days now and today there are many more than yesterday and that all seems about normal.

Also, does anyone have a definitive answer re. incubation. DD2 is 12 months and is likely to get it and we have a 'do' on Saturday where there is going to be a 6 month baby and I'm not sure what to do.

Incubation is 14-21 days. Your DD2 could have caught it anytime from 3 days before your DS2's first spot appeared. I think that means your baby is unlikely to be contagious this weekend, but I'd probably speak to the 6 month old's parents and ask what they want you to do.

Not sure about the headache, neckache but there is no harm in speaking to the GP tomorrow.

Thanks. Am thinking though that DS2 and DD2 may have been exposed at similar times so she may be contagious soon. DS2's class have all had it this term and I have taken DD2 in with me to school to several things over the last couple of weeks such as open evening, school production, and teacher's leaving party mid week last week.

This, if I understand it all correctly, may mean that rather than the typical 2 week wait for her to get it, she may only be days behind.

She has been screaming today which is extremely unlike her.

I noticed the fine rash before the blisters on DS2 a day before the first big spots. So that was a few days ago now.
