Suspect chicken pox but no spots on torso

Wonder if any of you knowledgeable and more experienced parents can help!

Think DS1 has CP, he has spots all over his bum and legs and they have turned to blisters, however he has NO spots at all on his torso which seems to be the normal presentation of CP.

Have taken him to see practise nurse this morning but she was about as much use as a chocolate teapot so trying to diagnose him myself .

Could it still be CP? Have cancelled all my social engagements and won't be taking him to nursery this week but already going slightly mad from being stuck in on my own with two grumpy kids so if it's not I'm off out!

TIA .

There doesn't seem to be any rule for CP based on my experience. DD1 had one behind her ear when diagnosed and was smothered in them within hours. dd2 had one at the base of her spine, a few on her legs and arms and 40 on her scalp. If they are blisters, CP most logical answer regardless of location....hth.

thanks valium, DS1 does seem to be scratching his head alot so may have some in his scalp - his hair is sooo think I can't see!

DD1 only had five spots in total and none on her torso but it was deffo CP, diagnosed at the GPs as she also had a chest infection which is apparently quite a common accompanying problem.

Thanks Jbck - nurse wouldn't be drawn on a diagnosis at all which is immensely frustrating as he seems fine in himself. Still erring on the side of caution at the mo though.

A friends child only had it in her nappy area and it was confirmed as chicken pox. Not always a pattern to it.

Thanks going, that's interesting, cos it really does look like nappy rash with a few stray spots!

DD had them mainly in nappy area, on head and on limbs - not a huge number on torso. Was definitely CP though.
