Baby upset and rubbing face

My 7 month old seems very unhappy this morning. He's been low-level whingeing for a couple of days, but this morning it's constant groaning, wailing and shouting. He's rubbing the top of his nose and inner eye a lot with the back of his fists, and doing some ear pulling too.

Is this teething? His lower incisors came through without too much fuss about three weeks ago, so the upper ones are due.

I would try calpol and bonjela and then watch him. If he is stlil unhappy by the time the calpol should have worked, then call the doctor. It could be teething or it could be an ear infection.

We've given him both of those - the Calpol only about 10 mins ago, so waiting to see whether he gets any relief from that. Poor little thing.

Are his ears red? Ear pulling/rubbing might be a sign of infection, as janajos says. Maybe take to GP tomorrow if no better?

Also, if he's rubbing his eyes, try and make sure if you can that there's no snot on his hands, children with colds/runny noses can end up giving themselves eye infections this way.
