Our dd (13) has just been diagnosed with scoliosis. Her curvature is 60 degrees, which makes it significant. As parents we are trying to come to terms with it and find out as much information as possible. She is having a brace fitted which will be reviewed at Christmas. Would really like to hear from anyone who has been in a similar position - has the brace had sufficient effect, did surgery still happen. Any information gratefully recieved

Hi I can't be of huge help but my 19 yr old cousin had successful surgery for this and within a year after the surgery he is absolutely fine and pain free. He has also grown 2 inches! Good luck x

My daughter had surgery when she was 17 with rods straightening her spine. She had a curve of 65degs when operated on by Mr David Harrison who is at the orthopaedic hospital Stanmore,he was brilliant.

She has gone travelling through Thailand, australia and now is a teacher in London.Has never had any ongoing problems and hasnt been held back in life.

The scoliosis association is a good resource for info.Has its own website and will put you in touch with others. Sorry I dont know much about bracing as DD not offered it. Had surgery within 1 yr of diagnosis.

Please let me know if I can help with any other questions x

We are with Mr David Harrison, so good to know you have confidence in him. Will contact the scoliosis society. Thank you.
