Not enough dirty nappies

Hello! I'm new to Mumsnet, my baby was born on 5th July, I started breastfeeding in the hospital but he didn't take and I moved on to bottles after 2 days.

He was very regular for the first week or so, then became very unsettled and went 2 days without a dirty nappy, I spoke to the midwife, health visitor and her practitioner nurse, they all said it was normal but I wasn't convinced, on day 3 he had a HUGE dirty nappy and was much more settled, he went another 2 days and then had another, I'm on day 3 with no dirty nappy, I did call NHS 24 who also told me it was normal, he is windy at both ends so no problems there but I can see him trying to go with no success.
He hasn't slept as well or for as long since this started.

The dirty nappies he has had have been normal, mustardy consistency but I'm concerned he is in a lot of discomfort and I don't know how to help, any suggestions?

Pam

Congratulations on the birth of your baby boy!

Perhaps try laying him on a changing mat and gently move his legs around in a clockwise motion. Sometimes this can help to get things moving, or at least help with the discomfort.

If you are really concerned then take him straight back to the health visitor or nurse.

hello
First of all congratulations on your little boy!
Secondly sorry to hear he's in discomfort -
Mumsnet has a breast and bottle feeding topic which might be more helpful in terms of helping with this - I'm not much use as my DS always had the opposite problem tbh!
good luck and hope he "goes" soon
