Violet Needham - what age?

Has anyone read any Violet Needham? Do you think it would be suitable for a just-8-year-old boy who's a very good reader (my nephew) or would it be too old for him? I was wondering about The Woods of Windri, which is in print (Jane Nissen Books).

I have 'The Changeling of Monte Lucio' and 'The Black Riders' which are both exciting reads...I haven't read 'The Woods of Windri'. I think they are a little too old for a just-8-year-old...even a very good reader. 'The Wind on the Moon' by Eric Linklater is fun (also published by Jane Nissen books) and might be an easier read?

Thanks, MCM. I also got the idea that he'd enjoy them more later - I'll leave them for now. I'm pretty sure we still have "The Wind on the Moon" at my parents' house.

Has he read 'The Ship That Flew' by Hilda Lewis? - published by OUP. Magical, and perfect for an 8-year-old good reader!
