DS1 is just getting into these, currently he loves 'too many daves' in The Sneetches book. Mine was The Lorax when I was tiny. (Still is )

Anyway, as there are so many to choose from, I was after some recommendations!

Thanks!

Green Eggs and Ham

How old is your DS?

My absolute favourite is 'Oh the places you'll go!' - but better for slightly older child.

For very young children, you can't beat The Cat in the Hat or Fox in Socks.

Green Eggs and Ham all the way!

He's 4, 5 in November. Thanks for these, will be interesting to see if everyone has the same favourite!

Mine was Green Eggs and Ham. Possibly because we didn't have many Dr Seuss' anyway. I delighted in One Fish Two Fish when dd was v small, too.

DS loves The Sneetches.

I like Green Eggs and Ham, I like to try and read it as fast as I can without making a mistake

I like the Lorax, I also like the one about going to sleep - can't remember what it is called, and the one about the Grinch stealing Christmas.

Younger children like the hop pop one, and really any of the easier ones, plus the Lorax. The more complicated ones save til a bit older.

Horton hatches the egg is a nice story too. And there a wocket in my pocket was popular with mine.

My personal favourite is the Sneetches book, for the Sneetches and Too Many Daves.

JaMmRocks · 24/05/2010 19:35

Too many daves is really a firm favourite here, by the time I get to the line with Zanzibar Buck-Buck McFate in it, both DS and DP are curled up laughing

The Lorax, Green Eggs and Ham but most of all "What was I scared of?" from the Sneetches book

"I saw a pair of pale green pants with nobody inside them."

Creative genius.

Horton hears a hoo, I saw it as a cartoon as a kid and loved it.

But for sheer poetry and meaning it has to be 'Oh the places you go'. The pictures of people waiting are so fab, waiting for anything from a string of pearls to a better break. It is moving and almost spiritual in its image of life and yet brings you back down to earth with leaking sneakers!

Parts of Fox in Socks from my own childhood (specifically tweetle beetles and Blue Goo). Go Dog Go for my children, and a bit of Green Eggs in Ham and A Great Day for Up too.
