Dd is mad for the Secret Seven series at the moment. She has also enjoyed reading the Agent Amelia series by Michael Broad.

She hates magic, princesses, vampires, fairies - stating that they're silly made up things. (Clearly a very broad-minded child!)

Can anyone recommend any other mysteries/detective stories for a nearly 7-year-old? I would add that although she can read perfectly well, she is a bit lazy and balks at thick tomes with dense print, and she also appreciates a few illustrations.

Best of all would be a feisty girl sleuth.

Have posted on another thread about the "History Spies" series by Jo Foster; Also The Magic Tree House Stories; Judy Moody is good too; Enid Blytons "The mystery of the...."; and the Ottoline books by Chris Riddell, not exactly mysteries but DD loved them. Glad to hear she has moved on from fairies/rainbows/ponies shite; DD2 (just 6) read a couple and the next week was reading Jacqueline Wilson and Roald Dahl.
