Special Books for a One Year Old

Hello. My little boy loves books. I have saved up some money to buy him some special books for his first birthday since we only have a few of our own. Can anyone recommend some really special books that a one year old may enjoy now and preferably in the years to follow? We don't have much spare money this year so I want to make sure I spend the money really wisely. He already has We're Going on a Bear Hunt, Dear Zoo and Each Peach Pear Plum, all of which he loves. Thanks.

The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo's Child. DS has just turned one and LOVES these. He also loves Peepo, Peace At Last, The Tiger Who Came To Tea and Aliens Love Underpants. Oh, and Giraffe's Can't Dance. All on Amazon

Go to the library, and let him choose some books. That way, you'll know more about what he likes for free.

And you can often pick up books in car boots/charity shops for a few pence.

DD1 loved Bear Snores On. It's such a lovely read and there's some interaction required with a button to push for the bear to snore.

Also, if money is tight, have a look around carboots/jumble sales, etc., as you're sure to get some good bargains there.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions - I will look them up.
