Hi

Wanting to buy a book for my 2yr old niece. Her mum is a single mum and would like a book with positive ideas about mum in it, but not necessarily any dad iyswim

I remember reading a post ages ago about this and I know there must be lots of books which just don't dwell on a father figure. Not sure I am explaining it correctly, but just want a book with not too many references to 'Daddy', but lots of nice references/associations with Mummy.

Thanks for your help

DD3 has a sweet board book called Hug, about a baby monkey looking for it's mum (it's ok, he finds her )

Will keep thinking

The Harry books (Harry and the Robots, Harry and his Bucket of Dinosaurs? - sorry, can't remember the actual titles but googling should get you there) have a nice mother and two children plus a grandma but the father is never referred to. They're actually lovely books anyway so well worth having.

I'd also recommend 'Are You My Mother?' by P D Eastman and Little Fish by Guido someone. The first is suitable for any age from about 1 to 4 and the second is for younger children (though my three year old has memorised it and enjoys 'reading' it to herself).

Hug is lovely.
