Can you get copyright free talking books to download?

DD is having sight problems & missing reading terribly

I really don't like stealing Intellectual Property so I'd like a source of copyright-free books

Where should I look?

I think the copyright would apply to the recording itself, even of an old book, if you see what I mean, but as Riven says, there are ways to get these things free of charge.

Try your public library - they may make a small charge, but should have loads of stories on cassette and CD. Think of a book she'd like and ask them if they've got it somewhere in the area on audiobook, or browse their online catalogue; don't just restrict yourself to what's on the shelves at your branch.

But if I borrow them from the library she can only listen at home (in her room) if I download stuff she can use the iPod we borrowed & wander round with it

I'd rather not copy from the library - it's not my thing

I have found Little Women, I think she might be a bit young for Dickens but she seems keen of Sherlock Holmes - I wonder if that is suitable

Have they not got children's stuff? We've had loads out over the years - Harry Potter particularly good value as the CDs are massively expensive to buy.

Take your point about the iPod.

The library has some bits & can order others

But I don't want to treat it as a permanent problem it should be transitory (fingers crossed)

No, that's why I thought the library might be good, because it's there anyway and you don't have to make special arrangements to use it. We use the story CDs because the children like 'em. A few things might just tide you over.

Good luck with your daughter's problem.
